About

We believe in the influential role of design in shaping how people perceive, understand and interact with the world.

We advocate for visual communication to incorporate intentionality and ethics in design practices.

The expression "and/or" is an interesting one. It defines in some ways how we humans are: sometimes indecisive, uncertain, trying and failing, living between two or several worlds – physical, mental, economic, cultural, religious, and more. Many of us feel we belong to many worlds we come from, and/or sometimes none at all. Instead, we build our own world, one where we truly feel we belong.

The word itself gives us a sense of relief. Its ambiguity reminds us that, as humans, we don't need to know everything. The only thing we can do is learn, grow, make mistakes, ask for help, pick ourselves up and move forward – and that’s okay. At the end of the day, as long as we stand up again, push through, and keep growing, with the help and support of others, we progress.

Our mission is to explore human behavior and visual communication, and their translation and impact on architecture, visual culture, brands and digital spaces on people's lives.

From the perspectives of great graphic designers, anthropologists, cultural professionals, architects, social scientists, and behavioral economists, we recognize the importance of these diverse fields – and how funneling them into conscious design solutions can be transformative. Many great designers, artists, observers, and marketers have always known this intuitively and acted on it.

We encourage creative, constructive, and critical thinking and lifelong learning. We are committed to not only informing but also inspiring our audience to engage thoughtfully with the world around them.

In practice, few design sectors have started linking these areas of the humanities. In academia, this science is still young compared to other fields. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t valuable knowledge that can generate new hypotheses, facts, and designs based on existing research. We want to gather, dissect, and layer this information, presenting it both linearly and three-dimensionally in an accessible form. It certainly is a long process, and we are taking this journey with you from step one.

We recognize that science and facts are provisional and always evolving. Therefore, this online platform is a work in progress. As we continue to bring you more content, we will, in turn, grow, embracing the journey of discovery and refinement. In a way, this platform is a reflection of us as humans.

So, welcome to this journey! And we thank you for your patience as we navigate this ambiguous yet fruitful path toward our goal.
